Saturday in the Park!

While the NY Yankees are away from home - playing in Seattle, what a better way to spend a baseball weekend and see the other NY baseball franchise - the New York Mets - play the Nationals at CitiField! The NY Mets toppled the Washington Nationals 3-2.
.
CitiField features an open-air ballpark with unprecedented sightlines, amenities and comfort for fans and visitors. A contoured seating configuration brings spectators closer to the field on all levels to provide optimal sightlines for a more intimate and entertaining experience. The concourse level features 360-degree, walk around circulation around the ballpark with expansive field views. The stadium is built with massive structures of brick, limestone, granite and exposed structural steel bridges.
.
This stadium had been caught in the middle of a major controversial bailout of Citibank by the US government. Questions were launched in this landmark partnership of Citibank and the Mets franchise. The probes have recently cooled off, however, when these two organizations showed significant commitments to the community with resources to develop outreach programs in and around New York City.

Good Ol'Dawg!

Two hours before showtime, fans trickled in from Jersey, Connecticut and the suburbs of New York. The roar of the iron horses from Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn came to a screeching halt infront of the Yankee Stadium. At Babe Ruth Plaza, between Gates 6 and 4, there was the Good Ol'Dawg and several teams of "How May I Help You" squad were around to greet the fans. The gates opened, lines moved quickly for security check, my ticket was scanned under a reader, walked through the turnstile, and I was on my way to Luxury Suite 22. I was there to witness the Bronx Bombers trump the Baltimore Orioles 5-3. I was definitely at the "Home of Champions."

AMA on ObamaCare

The American Medical Association has weighed in on Obama's new health care package.
.
The Allergists were in favor of scratching it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves. The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

.
Meanwhile, Obstetricians felt certain everyone was laboring under a misconception, while the Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted. Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!", while the Pediatricians said, "Oh, grow up!"

.
The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it. Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing and the Internists claimed it would indeed be a bitter pill to swallow. The Plastic Surgeons opined that this proposal would "put a whole new face on the matter".

.
The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea. Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and those softy Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

.
In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the legislators in Washington.

"New" Yankee Stadium

NYY Stadium Lobby

The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the borough of the Bronx, in New York City, New York and are a member of Major League Baseball's American League East Division. One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles, and moved to New York City in 1903, becoming known as the New York Highlanders before being officially renamed the "Yankees" in 1913. From 1923 to 2008, the Yankees' home ballpark was Yankee Stadium, one of the world's most famous sports venues. In 2009, they moved into a new stadium, also called "Yankee Stadium". <<Source: NYY website>>

Hi Art (the Blue Jay fan),
The Yankees have been playing the Blue Jays in Toronto since September 3. So far, the Yankees are 2-1 games in their favor. The final game will be at 1:07PM today. I should have flown to Toronto to see the games over the weekend. However, I will have a chance to see them for a double-header home game come Monday.

Hi Joe (the tennis aficionado),
Hope you had a nice flight to California.

On several visits to Brewster, Joe introduced tennis to the family. He suggested that I get into this game to lose weight. My gran'kids have their "Wilson's" (for Lucas) and "Prince" (for Sierra). I had to purchase a featherweight, but expensive "Head" for Olivia. She always complains about the weight and grip on the racket. For me, I settled for a "Wilson's" left in the garage by one of my kids when they moved out.

Unfortunately today, I pulled a muscle in my right leg running after a wayward tennis ball. I believe, I pulled the "Gastrocnemius" muscle out of place. The pain radiates when I start walking. I'm now in crutches so I'm not going anywhere in the next few days - not even to see the Yankees play their home game Monday! (#@&%, come to think of it, I can't even drive!)
